If you’ve been in a car accident and you haven’t seen a doctor yet, it’s likely because you think you’re not hurt, or doctors cost too much. But many of our clients are shocked to find out they should have gone to the doctor and they could have done it with no money out of their pocket. Now, before I tell you how to go see a doctor with no money out of your pocket, I want to urge you to go see a doctor now, even if you don’t think you’re hurt that bad. Many of even the biggest injury claims we’ve ever handled, our clients didn’t think they were hurt initially. You know how it is. You have some stiffness or soreness maybe, but you think that’s going to go away with some rest, and then it doesn’t. Some of our clients didn’t know they were hurt till days or even a week later.

3 Reasons to Go See a Doctor After and Accident

There are three reasons to go see a doctor after a car accident at least once.

First of all, we’ve never had a problem getting an insurance adjuster to cover the cost of an initial appointment. We all have some stiffness and soreness and the adjusters know they can’t get away without paying for at least the first appointment.

The second reason to go see a doctor right away is to document the fact that you were in a car accident in which you were injured or might be. For instance, it’s very hard for us to make a claim for a knee injury that developed days after an accident if you didn’t at least go to the doctor and report to the doctor that your knee hit the dash. That’s why we tell all of our clients to tell the doctor about any bruise, cut, stiffness, soreness, maybe it’s burning from an airbag, and also any body part that was affected because many times the injury develops later.

The third thing is very important. If you are hurt more than you think you are, then seeing a doctor early can be the only reason you have a successful injury claim. The insurance companies love to argue. Their favorite argument is that you must not have been hurt that bad if you waited a week to see a doctor.

What if I Don’t Have Health Insurance?

We understand that there’s a lot of people out there that don’t have health insurance, and even if they do have health insurance is too costly to use it because of co-payments and deductibles.
