What is an example of a lawyer “ambulance chasing”?

“Ambulance chasing” or capping is a term used to describe lawyers who solicit clients at the site of the accident. This stems from the stereotype of attorneys who would quite literally follow ambulances from the scene of the accident to the hospital to find new clients. This is just a bad practice as it highlights the desperation of the lawyers, and is less likely to have clients signing with them. It also monopolizes the clients when they are most vulnerable or unconscious, unable to think clearly about what they are signing up for. It is much better to allow the client to call the personal injury lawyer, so that they feel more comfortable moving forward through the whole process. Sometimes people want to be more involved with the proceedings of their case, and if they feel as though the lawyer is towering over them from the beginning (by showing up to the hospital without being called), they are less likely to want that lawyer representing them.

At Carrollton Injury Law, we are the PERSONAL, personal injury law firm.  We fully understand that our clients are the lifeblood of our continued success.  We believe in making our clients happy so they will continue to refer their friends and family members to us.  We have found that caring for our clients’ needs not only makes them happier, but also continual client communication leads to a more efficient and more successful recovery in the end.  We want to be continually informed about your treatment for painful injuries, your limitations in life due to someone else’s negligence, your lost wages, your disfigurement or scarring, your permanent impairment, your pain and suffering in the past and future, etc. All of this information is vital to a successful handling of your personal injury claim.

We take pride in keeping our clients apprised of all developments in their cases.  We also take the time to explain every aspect of your case to you in words that you can understand.  You will receive a copy of every document produced or attained in the handling of your case.

We also take pride in the fact that when you call with a legal question for an attorney, an attorney will take your call.  If your attorney is in court, you will receive a return phone call within one business day, usually the same day.
